Re-imagined Eastlake Style Three Drawer Chest Restoration
Originally from the late 1800’s, the Eastlake Style Chest has been expertly re-enhanced with a meticulous attention to detail. This signature style is named after the architect Charles Locke Eastlake who was inspired by Medieval and even Gothic Revival styles, making his work stand apart from the typical Victorian pieces of the time. With sharp angles and geometric shapes, it cut through the soft curves Victorian design typically presented.
This restoration is capped with a fully reconstructed top, gold plated corners, and is structurally reinforced by several “bow ties” placed throughout the piece. Various strategies such as these were used to ensure that imperfections presenting on the woods surface from over one-hundred years of wear and tear were enhanced rather than corrected. This allowed the originality of the piece to truly shine, while bringing in Eastlake’s signature geometric shapes.
It is complete with three drawers, the insides shrouded in black velvet then lined with authentic leather. This design feature pairs luxury and practicality with three fully functioning locks to keep your possessions safe while appearing as a piece of art.
The Eastlake Chest was created in an effort to make the forgotten relevant once again. This one-of-a-kind piece is perfect for collectors who have an appreciation for history, and those looking for a style that blends the past with the present.
